NEIU MSTQE CONSORTIUM
ENROLLMENT CYCLE PLAN
The NEIU Consortium (Northeastern Illinois University, Truman College, and Wright College) is in the process of planning the enrollment cycle for the MSTQE program. Our goal is to understand the mission of the program, to clarify the cross-college articulation issues, and to develop a consistent advisement and assistance effort in order that students will feel supported from the junior through the senior institutions Ð and perhaps beyond. In order to keep the consortium united, the recruitment and advisement teams will continue to meet periodically after the initial plan has been implemented.
Where to recruit:
á Students already enrolled in education classes at Wright and Truman, as well as some designated classes at NEIU (i.e. Math 121, Adventure Ed, and linked middle school courses)
á NEIUÕs College of Education
á Adult Education Programs at Wright and Truman
á More Teachers for Chicago Clubs at Chicago public high schools, Wright and Truman Colleges, and NEIU
á Paraprofessional organizations

Advisement/Persistence:
á Wright, Truman, and NEIU must work as a team, so that students will experience the seamless nature of the program and not loose their support as they move from the junior to the senior institution.
á Develop an advisement process specific to middle school pre-service teachers and identify an advisor(s) who will work with these students at Wright, Truman, and NEIU.
á Encourage pre-service teachers from Wright and Truman to take courses at NEIU (i.e. Adventure Ed.).
á Meet regularly with ALL students in the program (Wright, Truman, and NEIU), in order to track and monitor their progress and for them to feel the institutional support.
á Build peer support in each of the 3 schools. Plan special programs, speakers, and activities for pre-service teachers.
á Activate/support More Teachers for Chicago Clubs Ð develop websites or links.
á Develop a newsletter dealing with issues and events relevant to teaching, especially in the middle schools.
á Identify a bulletin board in the schools (especially at Wright and Truman) designated to highlight teaching-related matters.
á Invite pre-service teachers at Wright and Truman to events at NEIU.
