Can I use America Online (AOL) as my Internet Service Provider?
You can use AOL as your Internet Service Provider, but you should not use the AOL browser to access your online course. Connect to the Internet using your AOL account, but do not select "Go to the Web." Instead, minimize the AOL window, and then open either Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer to access your online course. Since you are not using the AOL browser, AOL may disconnect you after 45 minutes. To prevent this, open AOL every half hour or so and click on any button, just to make sure the AOL connection remains active.

Can I use WebTV?
No, unfortunately you will not be able to access your online course using WebTV.

Why do I need my own personal email account for the course?
Your instructor will be sending you information about your progress in the course via email, and due to privacy regulations, the email account you use for the course must be your own. You may not use an email account that you share with another person.

How do I drop an online course?
Manage the drop process through Registration (773-442-4040) at Northeastern Illinois University

What if I forget my login name and password?
  Contact your instructor immediately.

During what hours will my online course be available?
The benefit of an online course is that you can log in to class any time from any place. This means you have access to your course 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There may be occasional times when the online course is unavailable due to technical conditions beyond NEIU's control - your instructor will generally inform you of these times in the "Announcements" section of the course as they become aware of them.

What if I have problems with Blackboard?
Should you have problems within the Blackboard environment, contact your instructor.

What if I have technical problems unrelated to Blackboard?
For problems connecting to the Internet, call your Internet Service Provider. For other software related problems, contact the software program's technical support hotline.
