Module Design Format

Lesson #1 - Understand the interrelationships of a "team" and establish goals for the entire group

Lesson #2 - Select topics (Brainstorming) - Identify subject areas and their interactions

Lesson #3 - Planning and tiimelines - learn how to identify subject areas and establish meaningful timelines for those subject areas.

Lesson #4 - Developing Resources - using the internet to support subject areas. Consulting with others and using their expertise

Lesson #5 - Carrying out the "Plan" - Working out "Logistics"

Lesson #6 - Evaluating outcomes

Lesson #7 - Suggested Next Step

Thematic and Interdisciplinary Units
 

 

1. The team of teachers develop a unit of study based upon a central theme.The entire team and individual class activities are conducted to support the unit.


2. The teacher knows of a concept, topic or skill being taught in someone else's class and uses it for an example in his or her own class during his or her lesson.


3. Two or more teachers identify units or topics within their own subject area that are related to each other or can be related to each other:
Example - English: Students will read "A letter from The Birmingham Jail by Dr. King
Example - Social Studies/History- Student will study the Civil Rights Movement.


4. One teacher is aware of a skill that another teacher has taught and incorporate ways for students to use it in his/her class.


5. Teacher determines a skill needed by their students and jointly implement activities around those skills in their individual classes.
