The following is a guide to help you determine which statistical
test you should use to analyze your data. Only statistics covered
in SRM II are included.
Question #1: On which scale is the dependent variable measured?
Nominal or categorical data is not numeric. Each observation simply falls into a category. (e.g. male or female, left-handed or right-handed.) The descriptive statistic you use would be number of observations in each category, not a mean. If your data are on a nominal scale, clicke here.Interval or ratio data is numeric, with equal distance between each number (e.g. the difference between one foot and two feet is equal to the difference between four feet and five feet). The descriptive statistic you would use would probably be the mean. If your data are on an interval or ratio scale, click here.
