Due Nov. 8, before 5 pm: Presentation outline. Please
email, as an MS Word attachment, to L-Rueckert@neiu.edu. If you later make changes
before the actual presentation, please get that to me by email, at least 3 days
before your presentation.
Your presentation will not simply be a summary of
your paper. In fact, it may be quite different. It will probably be a subset of
your paper. It should be centered around one or two studies that you find
particularly interesting. If you cover more than one study, it would be easiest
if they were somehow related to each other. The ideal situation would be two
studies on the same topic, such as an original and a follow-up study. You
should start with a very brief overview of things that some one would need to
know in order to understand the purpose of the studies. Most of the background
information on the topic will probably already have been covered in class. Then,
give a brief description of the study’s method and results, presenting
graphs on overheads when appropriate. An example will be given in class.
A good way to organize your outline would be around the
overheads or slides that you will present. For example:
Slide 2.List a few background facts that lead up to the
study you’re goingto discuss.
Slide 3.Title and authors of the study.
Slide 4.List of the important aspects of the method (may
require more than 1 slide)
Slide 5.List of the most important results (may require more
than 1 slide)
Other slides:graphs of the results
Slide 6.Conclusions
Slide 7.Questions for future study.
