- The Rhodesian Ridgeback(also known as the African Lion Dog)
was bred in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe as it is known today)
and is named for the ridge on its back.
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel gets
its name from "you guessed it "King Charles II".
In the 15 and 1600's it became the lap
dog for the Scotland noble class.
- Great Dane
- The Great Dane (aka the Gentle Giant)
Originally from Germany and bred to chase wild boar.
The world's tallest dog is a
Great Dane named Gibson at 42-inch tall
.
- Doberman Pinscher
- The Doberman Pinscher bred in Germany by a
tax collector named Louis Dobermann in the late
nineteenth century.
