Daily Objectives #2 (September 8, 2005) Dr. Sanders
By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:
v List and describe the eight groups of contaminants outlined by the textbook, based on their chemical (or radiological, or biological) characteristics. Give three examples for each group. For each chemical, give the chemical formula, molecular weight, density, solubility in water, state at room temperature (e.g. solid, liquid, gas), potential health effects, and a common use. See the data your colleagues collected: Margarita Paul Sheetal Sadia Brianv List
and describe the six major categories of potential sources of ground
water contamination. Give examples of contaminants that might be
released in each category, and classify the contaminants in terms of
their bio/radio/chemical group.
v Describe the
mathematical concepts involved in the ground water flow equations, as
outlined by the textbook in Chapter 1.
v Determine what material you will
prepare for next week.
