FINAL PROJECT

Because our field trip required extra time on Tuesday evening, we will be swapping our time periods this week:  we had the longer period (150 minutes) on Tuesday and will have the shorter (100 minutes) period today.

Here's what you are expected to accomplish during that 100 minutes today:

Expectation 1:  Meet with me before you begin your work, and tell me what you are working on and what you intend to accomplish in the 100 minutes available to you.  I have been thinking about specific objectives for some of you and would like to discuss those with you; for others, I need to talk with you some more to see how we can figure out specific goals.

Expectation 2:  Check in with me at least once during the 100-minute period to show me where you are with your work.

Expectation 3:  Check in with me at the end of the 100 minutes to discuss these two things:
     a) What you accomplished during the 100 minutes, and
     b) Whether you intend to present a poster presentation or a talk (We will have presentations on May 1.  However, depending on how many people want to present in each format--talk vs. poster--we may have to schedule some talks for next Thursday, April 26.  If that should happen, some people will need to agree to present on that day.  Please consider whether or not you want that to be you.)

Finally, given that the work will be individual for this session, it is not essential that the whole class be present at the same time.  Some of you are available earlier in the afternoon; I will be on campus starting at 3 pm.  If you would like begin 100 minutes of research starting at 3 pm, you may do so.  However, the same three expectations (listed above) still apply.

Anyone working with field equipment, please dress to be outdoors.  You won't be able to take the equipment out in the rain, though, so have a backup plan.
