By the end of today's
class, you should be able to do the following:
EVAPORATION

Review: Using the Illinois State
Climatologist data, determine the pan evaporation
station(s) that best represent(s) your watershed;
collect and tabulate evaporation values for your
watershed (don't forget about the pan
coefficient!), and determine the volume of
water evaporated annually from open water surfaces in
your watershed.
EVAPOTRANSPIRATION

Explain how evapotranspiration
differs from evaporation.

List and describe the factors that affect
transpiration rates.
w
Explain the similarities and differences between
pan evaporation,
potential evapotranspiration (PET), and
actual
evapotranspiration (AET).

List and describe approaches for estimating AET for a
watershed.
