Daily Objectives #17:  March 15, 2011

By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

 •  Describe these terms related to glacial deposits, telling how each feature forms, of what the sediments are likely to be composed, the general configuration of deposits of this type, and what part they might play in a hydrostratigraphic system (for example,  aquifer, aquitard, confining layer, flow system boundary):

 •
Use a scoring rubric to conduct a peer evaluation of cross sections.

 •  Use geologic maps and documents, including stack-unit maps, to interpret the geology of a given location.
  Homework due Tuesday after break:
1) Write a one-page description of the geology of the study area.  (Refer to your cross section, and examine cross sections of other students in class today to get a more full, 3-D picture of the system.)
  2) Write a 2-3 paragraph description of the hydrostratigraphy and boundaries of the flow system.
