PRINCIPLES OF HYDROGEOLOGY
ESCI 337
Fall, 2007

Daily Objectives #17 (October 25, 2007)                                        Dr. Sanders

By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:
v Hydrostratigraphy
  • Recognize and delineate hydrostratigraphic units.
  • Distinguish between confined aquifers and unconfined aquifers.
  • Explain the difference between lithostratigraphic units and hydrostratigraphic units.
v Using Geologic Maps
  • Locate a study area on a geologic map, and interpret the information the map provides.
v Ground Water Modeling: Conceptual Model
  • List and describe the components of a conceptual model, the first part of constructing a ground water model.

Today's Agenda:

v Hydrostratigraphy and Flow Systems (partly a review from previous classes) v Using Geologic Maps
v Ground Water Modeling: Conceptual Models
v Hydrogeologic Maps and Cross Sections (Homework #4!)

Homework #4 is due today, but given our schedule/time situation, you may hand it in on Tuesday next week.  Please do not use ink!  Complete it in pencil for now; eventually you will ink it in.
