Flow nets, continued
By the end of today's class, you
should
be able to do the following:
v Use a flow net to determine
hydraulic gradient, flow velocity, and discharge through an aquifer.
v Draw a quantitatively accurate
flow
net for flow beneath a dam, and use it to make calculations of
discharge below the dam.
v Given piezometer data, draw a flow net in plan view.
v Given data on flow system boundaries, sketch a flow net
in plan view.
v Use the FLOWNET program on the
disk in your textbook to explore how flow nets change in varying
conditions. Get
the handout here (formatted for legal size paper).
