an exam this coming Tuesday.
By the end of
today's class, you should be able to do the
following:
METAMORPHIC ROCKS
w
List
and describe the steps involved in forming a
metamorphic rock from a pre-existing rock.
w
Explain the terms foliation and
recrystallization as they
apply to the formation of metamorphic rocks.
w
List
and describe the three "agents" of metamorphism.
w
Describe the two most important processes by

w
Demonstrate that you can

In class, we worked with samples 101, 107,
116,131, 140, and 147. We also looked at
samples of the sedimentary rock shale and
metamorphic rock slate, and tried to distinguish
between them; those samples are 115, 132, 153,
and 155.
w
In the following groups, construct a rock identification key
or flowchart that you can use
to describe and identify rocks of each of the
three major types.
