DAILY OBJECTIVES
By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

w Review:  Describe how igneous rocks may be sub-classified on the basis of their texture (crystal size) and mineral composition.

w
Review:  Demonstrate how to use texture (crystal size) and mineral composition to
arrive at a rock name for hand samples of igneous rocks.  (In class last time, we practiced with samples 102, 117, 124, 136, 137, 138, 139, 142, 143, 149, 152, and 157.)

w
Review:  
Tell which types of igneous rocks compose the bulk of continental and oceanic lithospheric plates.

w Review:  Compile, compare, and contrast geologic vocabulary terms that refer to igneous rocks.

w
List and
describe the geotectonic settings in which igneous rocks form.
