By the end of
today's class, you should be able to do the
following:

Review: Tell what is expected of you in the "Rock Your
State!"
homework assignment,
due Thursday.
w
Review:
State the two basic components of plate tectonic
theory.
w
Define the term density as it
applies to geologic materials.
w
Explain what the term boundary
means as it applies to plate tectonic theory.
w
Explain what is meant by the term "plate" as it
applies to geotectonics.
w
Name the two main types of lithosphere, and list
the characteristics of each type.
w
Using a map of plate boundaries, point out
examples of the two major types of plates, the
three major types of boundaries, and the three
different examples of combinations of plates at
convergent plate boundaries.
w
Sketch a diagram of each type of plate boundary,
illustrating the important geologic features
that occur at each.
w
For the 14 sites we have been focusing on,
determine their relationship to plate
boundaries, including whether or not they occur
at a boundary, and if so, what type of boundary
it is. |
