DAILY OBJECTIVES
By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

w Tell what is expected of you in the "Rock Your State!" homework assignment, due one week from today.

w
Explain the difference between a map of bedrock geology and a map of surficial geology.

w
Review:  State the difference in deformation characteristics of the lithosphere and the asthenosphere.

w
State the two basic components of plate tectonic theory.

w Explain what the term boundaries means as it applies to plate tectonic theory.

w Define the term density as it applies to geologic materials.

w Demonstrate that you can measure density of rock samples using the water-displacement method and a triple-beam balance. 

w List the characteristics of continental lithosphere and oceanic lithosphere, and explain how the two types differ from each other.
