By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

w Review: Describe the characteristics of the lithosphere and asthenosphere.

w Review: Sketch a diagram of the internal structure of Earth illustrating the positions of the lithosphere and asthenosphere.

w Review: Describe the basic principles of geotectonic theory..

w
Describe the three different types of geotectonic boundaries, including type of movement, type of plates usually involved, and geologic features that can usually be found at each type of boundary.

w Sketch a diagram illustrating each type of boundary and showing pertinent geologic features.

w Explain the relationship between minerals and rocks.

w Compare the minerals found within rocks to the samples in a mineral kit box.

w Use a binocular microscope to examine minerals in rocks where the minerals are too small to be seen easily with the unaided eye or with a hand lens.
