EARTH SCIENCE 109W

DAILY OBJECTIVES: September 24, 2010

w DRESS FOR BOTH INDOOR AND OUTDOOR WORK THIS WEEK.

w Bring an NEIU catalog with you to class!  (See the Assignments page.)

w This week we will hold class in our regular lab at NEIU for an hour or two, and after that will leave on a field trip to Gompers Park.  Do you have a car?  We will need drivers to take classmates to the park, about one mile from NEIU.

By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

w Find a specific field location on a topographic map based on landmarks, natural features, and human-made features.

w
Describe the geologic characteristics of the various water environments in Gompers Park.  (We will visit Gompers Park on a field trip today!)

w
Measure water quality field parameters and take samples in each of the environments in Gompers Park.

w
Measure water quality field parameters, and interpret their meaning.

w Write a list what you must bring to next week's class, and a description of how you should be dressed for class.
