By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

w List the three main types of rocks, and for each, describe the processes that lead to their formation.

w Describe characteristics exhibited by different kinds of rocks, and tell how their characteristics relate to how they were formed.

w Create a list of characteristics that will enable you to recognize samples of each of the three different types of rocks next time you see them.
