By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:
w Draw simple
topographic maps that illustrate various landforms: hill, ridge, closed basin,
valley
w Use a topographic map
to determine what direction a stream flows.
w Use a physiographic
map of the Chicago area to investigate landforms.
w Explain the difference
between surficial sediments and bedrock
w Explain what
dolomite (also called dolostone) is, tell why it might be
a commonly-used geologic resource in the Chicago area, and give examples of how
it can be used.
