Level 1
Rising Leaders
Students must complete at least two tasks in each area. Students must complete self inventory at start of each level with a self identified mentor or Assistant Director of Student Activities. Each student will be given an explanation of Social Change Model. Students will be asked to journal after each chosen activity using provided questions. At end of each year students will present journal entry of their choosing for SAO website and on going “I have been changed for the good” project.
Society
- Participate in a service project
- Attend a workshop or presentation on an issue affecting society
- Other activity approved by SAO
Group
- Work on a project with someone from a different background
- Attend LEAD workshop (topic depending)
- Participate in a campus event
- Attend Leadership Identity Conference
- Other activity approved by SAO
Individual
- Complete assessment inventory (Strengths Quest, Meyers Briggs, etc)
- Join an organization (on or off campus)
- Attend LEAD workshop (topic depending)
- Create a list of core values
- Participate in Freshmen Leadership Institute or Leadership Academy or Leadership Exchange or other Leadership conference
- Attend Leadership Identity Conference
- Other activity approved by SAO
Students that complete all three levels will be eligible to receive an academic scholarship to be presented at LEAD Banquet. Below assignments will aid in the selection process.
Change
- Write reflective paper on what change you would like to see (at NEIU, other community, the world) and how the as an individual, a group or society can work towards it.
- Participate in a case study discussion using Social Change Model
- Complete self inventory final time
