Involving Students as Active Learners Engaged in Critically Analyzing Real Life Issues

Because real life issue CI intends to affect student attitudes and behavior it is important that the infused lesson engages the student in the learning process. The CI real life issue methodology stresses prevention lessons that involve students as active learners who critically analyze real life situations. Emphasis should be on small group projects, collaborative learning and student oral presentations. Where feasible it is desirable to involve students in community prevention efforts through service learning.
