In Memoriam: Brad Stoyer. I was stationed with Brad in
the Philippines. When we were both civilians, he got me my job at
Commonwealth Edison (ComEd.) Brad, you will be missed. |
Special Thanks: I would like to say some special thank yous
to many people that I served with in the Air Force. If I forget anyone that I
shouldn’t, then please forgive me. These thank yous are either for helping me
directly or just for helping me by being friends.
Msgt Charles R. “Chuck” Morton (I’m still sorry for what
I said and I appreciate your patience on that evening, I have matured a little
bit since then and I think you help me out a lot with your patience that
evening. You saved me a lot of trouble and made my life better), MSgt Thomas
“Tom” Hilliard, Tsgt Lewandowski (Ski makes such good chili, all meat and no
beans, and so hot that the Mexican judges would swear in Spanish at the chili
cook-offs), Sgt Hines (T.I. from Basic Training.) (Also, there was another
T.I., a SSgt, also African-American, who noticed me, worried about me, cared
about me, and gave me emotional support. He helped me make it through Basic
Training, and I don’t even remember his name. I am reasonably sure he was also
in the 3709th, but I could be wrong. I do remember that he had tons of awards
in his office for being N.C.O. of this and Top Military Training Instructor for
this year and that year, like he was collecting these awards, and his trainees
told me that they all loved him. I definitely need to say thank you to him.) Of
course, Sgt Hines helped us all, too. Thanks to Randy “Uh, excuse me Jerry, but
would you mind sweeping A Bay?” Masters, from Basic Training. Thanks also to my roommate in Tech school for helping
me clean my bed and sheets the day after I drank too much alcohol (all
different drinks) at the Lowry AFB Airman’s Club. Thanks to Justin and Mike (I think
McCormick?) in Tech School.
Adelina “Del” Balagtas from GuaGua. Maraming salamat sa
lahat, Del! Mike at Marevic Kelly at Boyet at Liwong, Maraming salamat sa
inyong lahat! All of the Pico family, Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat! TSgt
Gregory Johnson, SSgt Ronald F. Eastwood, SSgt Brian Czaban, Sgt Mark A.
“Tankard” Wallo for being a great friend, Mark’s friend and fellow
Instrument/Autopilot troop Mark “Pondock” Zaverton, SSgt Ray “Wild Ray” McHenry, now a retired MSgt living in the
Philippines. Mark “Mr. Stibbs” and Lynn Stieber. Homer “Buk-Buk” Tolentino,
Chris “I just lifted all the weights in the gym, go look, they’re still up in
the air!” Clouser, Paul Supprenant. James “Jamie” Fox(x?) for being a good
friend in the Philippines, California, and Korea; and for driving me from California to Oklahoma, including an unscheduled stop in Kansas where the time is now Beer-Thirty.
I’m starting to get tired of putting the ranks down,
which would be meaningless now anyway.
Brian “Skeletor” MacGregor, Bill “Dr. Westfry” Eastburn, Pat
“Bat Slabney” Abney, Arturo “Arcturo, the Arcturian, from the Planet Arcturius”
Cahue, Steve “I think I’ll catch me a lofty omelette and go to bed” Smith,
Chris “Hey Culliton Man!” Culliton, Bob Scheutrum, Pete Wright, and Daniel
“Danny” Lofton Joyce for training me at George AFB, David “My own personal
alarm clock, and I didn’t even ask for a wake-up call!” Warner for smiles and
guidance (Sorry about waking you up all those times), Bill DeCoste, for being a good friend and taking me horseback riding and
getting me out of the dorms, Tommie Bell for being a good friend, Glenn
“Woosley” Woolsey, Lee Strickland, Greg Lyles, Tony Brown, Jeff the scheduler
at Travis AFB PMEL, David Vann, a good friend who did a lot for me, Roger
Mansker, Jeff Lucas, Jim “Nooner” Noonan (Thanks for taking care of me in
Germany) Scot “Howie” Mandel, (Thanks for putting up with me, I mean putting me
up in Korea and sorry I forgot to call you in Dakota), Ricky Dicks, MSgt Dave
Parker.
All of the civilian employees I’ve worked with in the Air
Force.
Clay Himmelsbach, John Simonoff, Ron Sykes, Matthew
Jahns, Carol Jahns, Kevin Grundig (I’ll always appreciate your warm hospitality
and I’m sorry I made your girlfriend sit in back on the way back from New York
to Delaware, I wasn’t thinking…)
There was another MSgt at Travis who looks like Mike
Holmgrenn, thank you for helping me at Travis.
Warm thanks to you, also, Mr. Lynn Rollin, for helping me do my job at Travis, and for
writing letters of recommendation for employers and giving references to employers for
me over the telephone. I owe you a debt of gratitude because you helped me get two jobs.
I intend to list more names of people I wish to thank as
I remember. If any of you come across this site while surfing, feel free to
drop me a line.
