How do I review for the final?

Here's a Review Sheet:

Final Review for MCO:

In General:
1) Make sure you have done all of the assigned computer drills and written
assignments.  If you're not sure about how well you've done them, get them
to me for feedback.  Since the computer drills are automatically graded,
you should have a good idea about these.  However, you may want to get the
written assignments to me.  You can get them to me in the following ways: 
	a) give them to me personally, 
	b) fax them to me, or 
	c) leave a photocopy of them in my mailbox
	
2) Make sure you have done the online quizzes which
cover the material since the midterm.

3) The Final Exam is online, so it will be "open book".  Therefore the 
emphasis is on understanding the material and knowing where the answers 
are, rather than on memorizing material.

CHAPTER 1
Make sure you understand the concepts discussed in this chapter.

CHAPTER 8
Make sure you know how to place counting numbers under notes.

CHAPTER 9
Make sure you know how to spell, identify, write, and play major and minor
seconds and thirds.

CHAPTER 10
Make sure you know how to spell, identify, write, and play major and minor
chords (see the Chords FAQ on the course main page for further info).

OPTIONAL: CHAPTER 12
Make sure you know the material summarized in this chapter, including
musical symbols and terms.  You will be given a score to examine and
you'll be asked to answer questions about the score which are related 
to concepts drawn from this chapter's discussion on pp. 221-223 and
questions 1-6 on p. 224.
 
DEFINITIONS (be able to define the following terms):

Counting Numbers
Chords (Major and Minor)
Intervals (Major and Minor Seconds and Thirds)
Syncopation

OPTIONAL DEFINITIONS:
"Road Signs" (e.g. repeat signs, etc.)

OTHER

Make sure you have either completed your performance requirement.

Make sure you have e-mailed your completed Student Evaluation form to
<music@neiu.edu>.

Make sure you bring, send, or fax a printed report of your computer drills
(since the midterm) to the final or that you have emailed the "report"
file to me.

Make sure you bring, send, or fax a copy of your written assignments
(since the midterm) and your written Performance Exercise (Music for
Study: on pp. 34-36: Examples 1-5).
