GLOSSARY

CIP (Classification of Instructional Programs) Code:

Federal program taxonomy that categorizes all majors by a 6 digit code.

Fiscal Year:

One-year period extending from July 1st through the next June 30th.

Full-Time Student:

An undergraduate student enrolled for 12 or more semester credits or a graduate student enrolled for 9 or more semester credits.

F.T.E (Full-Time Equivalent Enrollment):

A statistical enrollment unit used to represent a student enrolled for a full course of study. It is calculated by dividing total credit hours generated by 15 for undergraduate students and by 12 for graduate students for a semester FTE.

IPEDS:

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System is a series of interrelated surveys designed to collect institution-level data from all primary providers of postsecondary education in such areas as enrollments, program completions, faculty, staff, and finances.

New Student:

A student enrolled at NEIU for the first time. Includes students enrolled in the fall term who attended college for the first time in the prior summer term.
