CHRISTINA BUENO is Assistant
Professor of Latin American History and Latino-Latin American Studies. Her research interests include: Mexico,
indigenous peoples, race and ethnicity, and state- and nation-building. She has received fellowships from the American
Council of Learned Societies, the Ford Foundation, and the Fulbright Institute. She is currently writing a book manuscript
which examines the ways in which the Mexican government used archaeology for
the purposes of nation-building during the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz
(1877-1911).
