Tuesday, February 9th @ 1:40, FA218

Notices:

SECRETARY NEEDED to take club minutes.
This is Whitney's last semester and she is taking night classes.
She was our Secretary since January 2008. We will miss her sassy attitude at meetings, but she'll still be around for other stuff, right?!
Thanks for all your help, Whitney!

What is the Green Cycle Group all about?

We strive to promote ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY on campus at NEIU, through education and community involvement. We encourage likeminded people to join us, bring their concerns and create meaningful change in the name of our environment. We have activities to promote sustainability and common-sense environmental practices such as workshops and film festivals.  These activities are designed to promote engagement of the entire community, not just the members of the club. We also regularly enjoy social activities off campus such as visiting special museum exhibits, the farmer's market, potlucks, etc.

How to get involved:

MEETINGS:

We meet (usually) about twice a month, during the fall and spring semester.  It's an informal meeting, but we do try and get some business done. Drop by sometime!
(We meet less often during the summer semesters, if at all.)
If you can't attend meetings, there are other ways to be involved.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Keep up to date and involved by joining the mailing list ... a lot of discussion takes place there. You can also join our Facebook group and you will be notified of upcoming events.

ACTIVITES:

We have activities to promote sustainability and common-sense environmental practices.  Hopefully you will be able to help out with or attend our activities... We like to have a good time whenever possible!

NO DUES:

We want your participation, your ideas, your suggestions...
not your money!

What we need:

  • ENVIRONMENTAL ENTHUSIASTS & ACTIVISTS

We depend on person-to-person contact - so what we need mostly from you is an hour or two of your time (or more!), at your convenience... Come to a meeting or activity to help organize and promote activities, and spend time with others who share your interests.

What are your skills?

  • IDEAS PEOPLE
  • EVENT PLANNERS
  • MOVIE WATCHERS
  • PRIZE DECIDERS

We need ideas and people to get involved with the event planning process. Help come up with themes for our events; help us review movies to be shown; help us decide what to serve when events will be catered. Come up with cool, and environmentally friendly raffle prize ideas.

  • PROMOTERS
  • GRAPHICS DESIGN PERSONS
  • PUBLIC RELATIONS PERSONS
  • PUBLIC SPEAKERS
  • WRITERS
  • INFO TABLE HELPERS
  • WEBSITE MAINTENENCE PERSONS

Do you enjoy design and/or composition?? Maybe you can write? We would love to produce a snappy pamphlet that explains who we are and what we do, and our current campaigns. To be given out at bake sales, awareness events and any other occasion upon which people show an interest  in our organization. Publicity is the name of the game and we would love to have your help.

Are you passionate about the environment and even a tiny-little-bit outgoing?? Maybe you've got good speaking skills and could represent the club at various other school activities.
We people to staff our informational tables. It's also a good opportunity to talk with people interested in the environment and who are looking for an organization to become active with.

  • BAKERS

Maybe you can cook, and make something for our bake sales.

  • PEOPLE WITH SKILLS WE HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT OF

MAYBE THERE'S SOMETHING YOU CAN SUGGEST WE DO THAT WE NEVER EVEN THOUGHT OF THAT NEEDS DOING

Bring it on, we'll support you.
