The
new Language Lab is on the 4th Floor of the Library. It will have 35
Windows XP Dell OptiPlex GX620 PCs with 3.4 GHz
Intel Pentium® D processors, 4 GB of RAM, DVD-RW and video capture and
multimedia editing capabilities. These PCs and a
variety of language instructional programs on a campus network and DVD drives.
These programs are used to review grammar, develop vocabulary and increase
cultural understanding in the new language. The lab also is connected to
Internet and E-mail so students can go "on-line" with their new language. The lab has access
to World Wide Web sites of interest to students studying a foreign language.
WordPerfect and Microsoft Word are also available for FL students with FL spell
check and text inputs in 50 different languages. The computers are also used
as video viewing screens and to keep student attendance records.
A Northeastern Illinois University
I.D. Card is required to use CD-ROMs.
A blank disk, flash drive or CD is required to save documents.
