The benefits of studying other languages have been recognized as critical
to America's economic growth in the coming years. Proficiency in a language
enables you to communicate directly with people of other nations, increases
vocabulary and grammatical knowledge in your native language, and expands
the boundaries of your worldview. You learn about other nations' history,
customs, traditions, business practices, literature, music, and art. At
the same time you are developing an understanding, appreciation and tolerance
of these nations and their people.
