Preparing for the Writing Portion
of the English Competency Exam (ECE)
Overview Workshops on Planning

The Overview Workshop on Planning is for students preparing for the writing portion of the ECE. While the primary audience for this workshop is anyone who has completed English 101 and has yet to take the exam, this workshop is of special value to transfer students, Board of Governors students, and Education or Business majors. We also encourage anyone who has taken and failed the exam to attend. By participating in one of these 60-minute sessions, you can gain insights from Writing Lab staff that will help you sucessfully complete this graduation requirement.

You should attend this one-hour workshop if you would like to learn about frequently occurring types of ECE statements, time management, and how you can receive free tutoring for the writing portion of the ECE. Space is limited, so you must pre-register. First-time ECE takers must attend one of these workshops in order to be tutored in the Writing Lab. The workshop will be offered numerous times throughout the semester, so choose the day and time that best meets your needs.
