Additional Assistance

In some cases, the Writing Lab is not the best source of help for particular situations. Your instructor, for example, would likely be best able to help with clarifying specific assignment details. Specific subject areas, such as mathematics and history, might require that you meet with a content area tutor in the Learning Center. Our tutors might also recommend that you visit the Reading Lab if you are having trouble interpreting the content of the readings you are doing for your coursework. When your needs include help with grammar or usage, then you may want to take some online, interactive tutorials. The following are useful links:

The NEIU Learning Center offers subject area tutoring, especially for general education courses. Reach them at http://www.neiu.edu/~clc/ or by calling 773-442-4568.

The NEIU Reading Lab can be reached online at http://www.neiu.edu/~readdp/html/the_reading_lab.html / or by calling 773-442-4565.

Bedford St. Martin's offers a wide array of helpful materials on writing, including free onine tutorials, diagnostic tests, and exercises to improve your knowledge of English grammar and usage: http://bcs.bedfordstmartins.com/rewriting/
