Web 101 E-mail

E-mailing the Facilitator

If you have a question for any of the facilitators sending an E-mail message is an excellent way to ask it. The class facilitator's addresses are:
<P-Heydenburg@neiu.edu>
<J-Lucas@neiu.edu>
<RS-Pateman@neiu.edu>

The Listserv and Web Conference

The Web 101 course has two important E-mail components. As such, the course uses both listservs AND web conferencing tools:

Listserv

  • webseminar-l (webseminar-l@neiu.edu)
  • a listserv comprised only of web seminar participants and facilitators

    What is a listserv?

    A listserv is an electronic mailing system. Messages sent to the listserv are sent to all subscribers, so UMULTI will be an important resource for you in that it will allow you to communicate electronically with the instructor and other members of the seminar, as well as other knowledgeable colleagues.
  • Webseminar-l Signon/Signoff

    Web101 WebBoard

    The course also has a web conference called Web101 WebBoard, which allows for live chat and "conferencing", which is similar to email, but may be more suitable than a listserv for certain things, such as posting your assignments and choosing threads of information. The Web 101 WebBoard requires a simple log on procedure the first time you use it. Remember your password and login for later! Note: these may be different from your quiz passwords, that's up to you.

    Note: light but regular asynchronous use (posting email-like messages) of the Web101 WebBoard is required of all participants. There will also be occasional use of the synchronous use (Chat Rooms) of it.
