Partnership Programs

Schools and organizations have become partners in various initiatives of the ENLACE Leadership Institute. The initial partners of the Chicago ENLACE Partnership funded by the W.K.Kellogg Foundation included community colleges, schools and community-based organizations in the broader metropolitan area of Chicago. The community colleges were assisted in creating support programs for Latinos that were intended to become institutionalized programs at those colleges. These partners were involved during the initial program and collaborative efforts continue with many of these institutions. An example of this is Truman College’s Transitional Bilingual Learning Community, a program that was initiated as part of this ENLACE program.

Community organizations and schools have been able to participate in various opportunities including, a mentoring program, parents program, future leaders camp and were involved in helping to develop the policy and recommendations to improve the 6 identified policy gaps that are included in the ENLACE Leadership Institute Educational Policy Report.

Partners with the ENLACE Leadership Institute have often arranged the support of higher education for professional development and assistance in building and enhancing successful strategies to improve the educational success of students. In this manner, ENLACE is able to maximize and improve the educational pipeline for Latinos, building on and reinvigorating successful efforts and developing new partnership programs to improve the completion of high school, baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate degrees. Transition programs, including campus visits for middle and high school students, are arranged with partner schools and organizations as well as leadership initiatives that include the use of adventure and experiential education.

Currently, the ENLACE Leadership Institute is partnering with ENLACE New Mexico which is a consortium of 5 educational institutions creating shared opportunities for learning of effective practices that will enhance the work of ENLACE across states, building and spreading regional successes of innovative ways to improve the Latino educational pipeline. Funding requests are pending for an ambitious joint initiative for improving student success and retention.

Schools and organizations with a history of involvement with ENLACE continue to count on ENLACE to arrange campus visits and leadership events.

Human, financial and material resources are sought to enhance the work of creating Leaders at all educational levels. With additional funding, some of the past initiatives and programs from the 2001-2006 partnerships will be able to be reinitiated resumed. See Prior Partnership Initiatives.
