enlace graduation

ENLACE stands for ENgaging LAtino Communities for Education. The Spanish word, "enlace" means "link" in English. The name is significant as ENLACE has created connections across the K-20 educational continuum for students. The ENLACE Leadership Institute conducts research, compiles and disseminates information about best practices, and seeks to create leaders who will improve the pipeline to post-secondary completion for Latinos, particularly at urban Hispanic Serving Institutions like Northeastern Illinois University. This is accomplished through the rigorous training of graduate students in the ENLACE Fellows Program so that they will move into college and university leadership roles.

Additionally, the ENLACE Leadership Institute reaches out to schools, community partners, and ENLACE alumni to foster educational opportunities and build leadership capacity within the Latino community.

Through both the Fellows program and community initiatives, ENLACE helps to advance NEIU’s mission and strategic goal to be a model Hispanic Serving Institution for the nation, demonstrating what a university can do to support and improve educational prospects for Latinos.
