About the English Language Program

The English Language Program provides the opportunity for students to acquire the level of oral and written English Language sills expected of university students. Courses are offered for both native speakers of English and English language learners.

The ELP Writing Lab provides tutoring for students from any college in the university who want help with academic writing assignments, and offers assistance to students enrolled in ELP and English composition classes and students preparing for the English Competency Examination.

Placement

On the basis of the English Placement Test, a 40-minute timed essay, native and nonnative speakers are placed into a writing sequence appropriate to their level.

30% of incoming freshmen place into the English Language Program
