Web Authoring

In this lesson you will learn basic web authoring skills which will allow you to post your assignments on line with multiple maps, associated data tables, and annotation.

Students in G&ES 391 will be producing many maps and projects which contain not only individual maps, but also a good deal of annotation, tables, graphs, and sometimes several maps. For that reason, the first exercise is producing a web page which will make on-line pubilishing relatively easy.

A number of web authoring software programs are available, some of which are more elaborate than others. Several different browsers sometimes render pages differently. In this class we will stick to the basics, and use simple web authoring software and a text editor for direct coding of .html, which is often an efficient method.
