Detailed object layers like this are widely available from public data sources.

Data Sources

Boundary files are widely available now in various formats. Students will explore the types of information offered by the U.S. Geological Survey, including digital line graphs, digital raster graphics, digital orthophotographs, and digital elevation model data. Each of these can be incorporated as a layer into a GIS project.

Issues such as locational accuracy and data conversion will be covered in this course module.
