G&ES 104: World Geography Basic
world facts Review Sheet
We expect you to already have some knowledge about the world, particularly
where major features and countries are located. If you do not know all
of the information on the following list, please study it on your own time
during the first two weeks of the term. You will be tested on this material
at the date listed on the syllabus. Use atlases and maps and the world
map inside the cover of your textbook.

You should know the four compass directions.

You should be able to identify the major continents:

You should be able to identify at least 5 countries in each qualifying
continent (you choose the five countries). Refer to the map in your textbook on pages 404-405 for
country names.

You should know the difference between cities (e.g. Chicago), States (e.g.
Illinois), countries (e.g. U.S.) and continents (e.g. North America).

You should recognize all the states on a U.S. map.

You should be able to read a road map for directions.
