_Thank you for your interest in the Teacher Certification Program (TCP) here at Northeastern! The program is designed for returning students who already have a BA/BS degree in a field other than Education who wish to obtain a teaching certificate. Through TCP, you can earn one of the following teaching certificates:

TYPE 03 - Elementary Education Grades (K-9)
TYPE 09 - Secondary Education Grades (6-12) (BIOLOGY, ENGLISH, HISTORY, MATH)
TYPE 10 - Secondary Education Grades (K-12) (ART (studio), MUSIC, PE, SPANISH, FRENCH)

In the program you would need to complete all Education courses (Educational Foundations, Methods, Clinicals, and Student Teaching) plus any required courses in your Subject area and Gen Eds to complete it and become certified. In addition, you will also have to pass State exams (
Basic Skills, Content & Assessment of Professional Teaching - APT) to earn the certificate, which comes from the Illinois State Board of Education. Please keep in mind it is not a degree program, just a certificate to teach.
