Welcome to the Department of Educational Leadership and Development
Our faculty and students are comprised of professionals with widely diverse interests, expertise and experience. We take great pride in our alumni who serve in schools, universities and businesses throughout the Chicago Metropolitan area. Our department offers a graduate program in Educational Leadership and undergraduate and graduate programs in Human Resource Development.
We are proud of our department's ability to serve our students by offering courses at a variety of locations. Courses are offered through distance education that include web enhanced formats. Distance Education courses are available at the University Center in Lake County, and Northeastern Illinois University's El Centro Campus and the Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies.
Our programs include a strong emphasis on reflection and skill development and the ability to effectively apply theory in professional settings. Our aim is to prepare students for strategic leadership in educational and corporate organizations, and to train effective leaders and change agents. The curriculum highlights an integrated and interdisciplinary skill-based focus on leadership and administrative development. The programs build a strong sense of community by understanding and celebrating the diversity of the people and communities served by our faculty, graduates and students.
