SCHOLARSHIPS IN WRITING AVAILABLE
# WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any undergraduate, full-time or part-time, working toward his or her first bachelor’s degree.
# WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP OFFER?
Tuition waiver for fall and spring semesters. (Note: This waiver cannot be used by a student who is already receiving a tuition waiver from another source.)
# WHAT IS THE AWARD BASED ON?
Samples of the applicant's writing (poetry, stories, plays or essays) and one letter of recommendation (applicants for renewal need not submit recommendation). Involvement in literary activities on campus is also taken into consideration. The purpose of this award is to offer support to students who show ability as well as a serious commitment to writing.
# WHAT IS EXPECTED OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS?
That they participate regularly in the literary life at Northeastern by taking writing classes above the 100 level (independent study acceptable) or by joining Apocalypse (NEIU literary club) or writing for The Independent, the school newspaper (unpaid position only).
# WHEN CAN I APPLY?
The deadline for applications for Fall 2008 is: Tuesday, April 28th before noon.
