This introduction to American government and politics for
first-year students is linked with a course in writing composition and
a university seminar. The three courses make up a learning community
called "Identity, Community, and the Struggle for Meaningful Democracy."
PSCI 307-G: Globalization and "Third World"
Politics
This
new course for upper-level undergraduates examines the history and meanings
of "globalization," and explores the effects of globalization on the politics
of four nations in the South: Argentina, Vietnam, El Salvador, and
South Africa.
PSCI 467-D: Democratization and Capitalism
in the Late 20th Century
This
graduate seminar in political science compares theories of democratization,
examines the complex relationships between capitalism and democracy, and
applies these concepts and competing theories to a wide range of empirical
cases across every region of the world.
