Computing for Mathematicians

Spring 2004

Course Overview

Computers are a valuable tool for mathematicians and students of mathematics.  This course uses Maple software as a programming language, as a computer algebra system, and as a tool for graphics and calculations to introduce mathematics students to the use of computers to assist in the solution of mathematical problems.

Learning Objectives

- to use Maple as a tool for calculation and graphics
- to learn to write Maple programs
- to use Maple programs to solve mathematical and application problems
