The NEIU Student Government Association is the governing body for the student body at NEIU. It consists of and Executive Board, 20 Student Senators, 1 IBHE-SAC Student Representative, 1 Student Trustee, and 5 Student Justices. The purpose of SGA is to lead with integrity, embracing our diversity to promote a cohesive and unified student body. The focus of the SGA begins with the students. It will be the mission of the SGA to be the voice of all students. Every student of Northeastern Illinois University will be represented and is thereby entitled to participate according to rules and procedures. No individual or rule may violate that right.
Members of SGA are elected in 2 academic year elections. 10 Senators are elected in Fall semester. The other 10 senators are elected in the Spring semester along w/ the executive board, the IBHE-SAC Rep. and Student Trustee. The Student Justices are appointed by the President of SGA.
Get involved in SGA today! You can have an impact on Board of Trustees, administration and faculty decisions made at Northeastern. The Student Government Association is composed of 25 elected students. It appoints students to university-wide committees which make decisions in areas such as Grade Appeals, Campus Planning, Student Judicial Hearings, Financial Aid and Parking Appeals. Student Senate committees are responsible for chartering new student organizations and allocating funds to student organizations. The Student Government Association gives you the opportunity to interact with your peers while you represent the student body in making decisions that affect the quality of student life at NEIU.
