OPT/H-1B Workshop/Information Session

The Office of International Programs will be holding workshop/information sessions for students interested in Optional Practical Training (OPT) and/or the Temporary Worker visa (H-1B) on the following days and times:

Session 1
Tuesday, October 16
2:00 pm
SU 217

Session 2
Wednesday, October 24
2:00 pm
SU 217

The information presented for each session will be the same so you need only to attend one. However, if you would like to attend both sessions, you are more than welcome to.

These workshops provide you with information regarding recent trends, requirements, application dates, and guidelines for applying and remaining in status. I have attached a packet of information regarding OPT to this email. Please look it over and come prepared with questions, insights, or concerns. Please consider the following:

- If you are graduating in December, please email me to make an appointment to discuss your options for OPT as soon as possible. It is highly recommended that you apply at least 2 months BEFORE you graduate in order to avoid delays in receiving your Employment Authorization Document (EAD card).

- If you are currently on OPT, please be aware of your end dates. If you plan on applying for an extension please email me to discuss your options.

- If you are currently on OPT or H-1B and would like to share your experience with students preparing to apply, we would welcome your expertise. Please email me if you would like to share your experiences.
