Approval Forms

Proposal Approval Form

Gradute students who are preparing for their Research Paper (G&ES 430) or Thesis (G&ES 431) should work closely with the chair of their committee, which is normally their Program Advisor.  Both Theses and Research Papers require a chair, who must be a tenure/tenure-track member of the G&ES faculty, and a second reader, who is normally a tenure/tenure track member of the G&ES faculty. Exceptions must be approved by the graduate coordinator and chair.  Theses require a third reader, who may be an academic or professional, and who also must be approved.

This form must be signed by the committee and given to the department chair before the student is allowed to enroll in either G&ES 430 or G&ES 431.  The enrollment can take place during the first week of Fall or Spring term, but the deadline is very firm.  Program Advisors will know the exact deadline.  Do not expect to enroll in the summer sessions.

Completed Paper Approval Form

When the Research Paper or thesis are completed and accepted by the entire committee, a form must be signed by the chair and members, and distributed to G&ES faculty. Then the Graduate Coordinator notifies the graduate college of completion.

At this time, the chair submits the change of grade form, if initial enrollment in 430 or 431 was for a prior term.
