Feedback
from NEIU Faculty About FSI
Jane
Peller, CTL Faculty Liaison, surveyed NEIU faculty who attended the FSI.
Below is a summary of
responses:
-
Overall
the participants were very satisfied with all aspects of the FSI conference;
-
All
participants found that it was easy to learn the technologies in the
workshops;
-
All
participants found the FSI content to be either very or extremely timely to
their goals for learning;
-
There
was mixed reviews of the learning teams which was a new concept to this
years FSI;
-
Many of
the NEIU participants involved themselves in content pertaining to use of
multi-media;
-
Participants are clearly thinking about and making connections about how to
use what they learned at FSI to their responsibilities at NEIU.
Recommendations from
the faculty:
-
Increase
the number of participants from NEIU to FSI
-
Make FSI
conference more visible on the NEIU campus by:
-
Have
a CTL bulletin in fall on the highlight or experts from participants.
Perhaps short articles from each participant talking either what they
learned or how it effects their role at NEIU
-
Advertise FSI many months prior to the request for participants.
-
Ask FSI alumni to
recruit colleagues to attend FSI
-
If
less people attend offer money for purchase of related technology
programs or equipment
-
Have
participants present something at a NEIU event
-
Have
a meeting of all participant prior to the event for orientation

NEIU Blackboard User Survey
A
survey of NEIU faculty Blackboard users was conducted by the Center
for Teaching and Learning.
A questionnaire was developed by Paul
Heydenburg, Jane Peller, Edmund Hansen. Angeles Eames, and Brad Baker. Approximately 30% of
faculty using Blackboard responded to the survey.
Selected faculty were chosen to participate in small focus groups moderated by Paul Heydenburg and Jane Peller.
The background and results of the project are provided in the three Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) documents below.
