Deon
Brown
Director, Upward Bound
|
Deon Brown, director of Chicago's Upward Bound program,
began his association with TRIO in 1991 as a Project
Coordinator with the Triton College Educational Talent
Search Program in 1991 and has been director of the
Northeastern Illinois University Upward Bound Program
since 1992 and became director of Talent Search in
1997. He is an adjunct professor in the Educational
Leadership and Development Department at Northeastern,
teaching School Law and the Law of Higher Education.
Deon is also an adjunct instructor of economics at
Triton College, receiving the Outstanding Faculty
Award in the Social Science Department for 2004.
Deon has been recognized as an Emerging Leader by
the Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity
Program Personnel (MAEOPP) and served as President
of the Illinois Association of Educational Opportunity
Program Personnel for 2000-01. He has earned a B.A.
in Economics with High Honor from DePaul University,
a M.S. in Economics (Dean's Fellowship) from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a J.D. from Loyola
University Chicago School of Law. Contact

Troy
Norman
Assistant Director, Upward Bound

Troy
Norman, assistant director of Chicago's Upward Bound
program, started as a tutor for Upward Bound in 1989.
He became acting director in early 1991 until the
current director began. Following several part-time
positions within the Chicago Teachers Center with
various programs until 1999 when he became full time

Waukanee
Jackson
Counselor , Upward Bound |
Waukanee
Jackson started as counselor for the Upward Bound
program in 1991. Prior to coming to NEIU she provided
services in the areas of child development, developmental
disabilities, pregnant teens, young mothers, adult
and marriage counseling and other youth services.
Ms. Jackson has been recognized as an Emerging Leader
by the Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity
Program Personnel (MAEOPP) in 2001. She has served
on the MAEOPP and ILLAEOPP board on several committees
in the capacities of Chair of the Evaluation committee,
Washington DC Seminar, and has conducted numerous
workshops on scholarships and leadership. She earned
a B.A. in Social Work at Loyola University and Masters
in Social Work with a focus on Administration in Families
