In the fall of the school year, students and Upward Bound
staff commit to an Academic Year
Agreement which describes the responsibilities
of the program and its participants.

WHO
MAY APPLY TO UPWARD BOUND? |
- Students
in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades
- Attend
UB target schools
- Are
in good academic standing
- Are
seriously considering attending college
- They
and their parents or guardians meet federal income
and educational guidelines

Two-thirds of our students must meet both criteria;
one-third may meet one or the other but not both.

To be educationally eligibile, the parent(s) with
whom the student lives cannot have a degree from a four-year
college.
- To
be financially eligible, the household income for
2002 must fall below the income guidelines in the table
below (federal low-income guidelines are subject to change)
