the year for those interested in learning more about our M.A. in
We strongly encourage you to attend one of the sessions to learn about
the scope of our programs, including application procedures and deadline
Free street parking is available on Bryn Mawr, Central Park, and St.
Louis Avenues. Presentations begin promptly at 6:30 pm.
Students planning for
Practicum for 2014-2015
The Practicum application for the 2014-2015 academic
year is available on the 'Department Forms' link of this website.
Students planning to do Practicum in the Fall 2014 term
must attend a mandatory Practicum Orientation, scheduled from
6-7:30 pm, Thursday, November 7, 2013, in room SU-103 (Golden Eagles
advisor with any questions regarding practicum.
Departmental Proficiency Examination (DPE)
Schedule for the DPE for the 2013-2014 Academic Year:
Saturday, February 8, 2014, 9-12 noon, room TBA
Saturday, June 7, 2014, 9-12 noon, room TBA
The DPE application can be printed from the 'Department Forms' link of this
website. Applications are due 2 weeks prior to exam date and must
be signed by your advisor. Contact your advisor with any
questions regarding the DPE.
Examination (NCE) for the National Certified Counselor (NCC) Credential
The next NCE will be offered Saturday, April 12, 2014, room TBA.
Applications will be available from from Dona M. Wisniewski, starting
in December 2013. Application deadline is early January 2014. Contact
Dona at 773-442-5557 for information.
The National Certified Counselor (NCC) is the
National Board for Certified Counselor's professional counseling
credential. Holders of this certification must meet national
standards set by the counseling profession. The NCC is a voluntary
credential. It is not the same as state licensure, nor is it a
substitute for it.
In the state of Illinois, a passing score on the NCE can be used as a
method for applying for the LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
