The National Certified Counselor (NCC) is the National Board for Certified Counselor's professional counseling credential.  Holders of this certification must meet national standards set by the counseling profession.  The NCC is a voluntary credential. It is not the same as state licensure, nor is it a substitute for it.  In the state of Illinois, a passing score on the NCE can be used as a method for applying for the LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) license.  For additional information on the NCE exam, go to nbcc.org.
